Re-vamping fitted sheets

Have you got fitted sheets that have lost their elasticity and no longer stay on the mattress ? Well I have and I was going to make pillow cases out of them, as the sheet itself was ok, but then I thought why not replace the elastic, so that is what I did. Bedding is quite expensive to buy in Tenerife, there are no asda or matalan, where you can pick up a bargain, so you have to make do and mend as they say.

You can put elastic all around the sheet but I only did the corners as I did not have enough elastic. Cut 4 pieces of elastic about 75cm at least. Using the zig-zag on your sewing machine at the middle setting, sew over the top of the elastic stretching it as you go, reverse stitch to hold and that is you done, repeat for the other 3 corners.

If you do not have a sewing machine you could thread elastic into the hem all around sheet and pull into place then knot together.
