Weekly Photo Challenge – Layers

Weekly photo challenge – layers.

Here is my entry “The barraquito” a coffee unique to the Canaries.

The coffee consists of condensed milk, espesso, liquer 43 , milk froth, cinnamon sprinkled on top. You can also have the coffee without the liquer, but I prefer it with. It is poured into a glass in layers. Delicious.

Tote Bag – New from old

Well today I made a tote bag from two  skirts that do not fit anymore. This is something I have been wanting to do for a while, but kept putting it off, too much trouble to get the sewing machine out. Really glad I did , I enjoyed making the bag and it was very easy.

I found the pattern on http://tinyhappy.typepad.com/tiny_happy/2006/06/shoulder_bag_tu.html
It took me about 2 hours, but I am pleased with the result. There are so many different ways to adapt the pattern, I might try a patch work bag next time.

A word a week challenge – Behind

A word a week challenge – Behind.

This is my entry, these are pictures which I bought in Paris in the 70’s, a bit saucy like the seaside postcards you used to get, but fun anyway.

Tip of the Week

Carrots have been proven to be good for you. They contain Vitamin A, K, E, B6, B2, B1, Potassium, Magnesium, antioxidant nutrients like Vitamin C, phytonutrient antioxidants like beta-carotene.

Good for the heart and vascular system and the skin.

There are many ways you can have carrots, and cooking them does not destroy the goodness.

If you are not a lover of carrots, why not grate them into your mince , then cook as normal you will never know they are there.

Carrot cake is another good way of eating carrots, and again you would not know it was made of carrots.

Great for juicing. Best way to cook then is steaming, they taste better somehow.

Sometimes I cook them in a little water, some olive oil and garlic, if you cut the carrots small it works better, because they cook quicker, just cover the carrots with the liquid no more, and once cooked there is very little liquid left, then mash them.

It is best to keep carrots in the coolest part of the  fridge, away from other veg and fruit. Wrap in damp paper and put in an airtight container, should keep for up to 2 weeks.

Rain in Tenerife !

On Sunday it rained in Tenerife ! An unusual occurrence we have not had rain for over 6 months. This was some down pour that lasted on and off for about 5 hours. I felt I had to take some pictures so here they are.

It is clouding over.

Rain on the way.

rain bouncing off the tiles.

Monday, next day back to normal-sunshine.

Weekly photo challenge – Eerie

This picture I find eerie, the baboon somehow does not look real, the face appears the shape of a skeleton that has a halo.
