“Help for Heroes”

We attended an annual event that was for the UK based charity “Help for Heroes” which helps those who have been wounded in Britains current conflicts.

This was our first time at the event and indeed our first time at the venue. There were 13 of us all British in our group, we had a great day, we cheered the 10k walkers as they returned, we bought raffle tickets ,put our loose change in a collection jar, watched the 12 singers who were performing free, had a few drinks, and all this in the sun.

What a great atmosphere there was, we met a Scottish guy who was in the Scots Guards and just come back from Alfganastan after 7 months, lovely lad and so young.

We won 2 raffle prizes for boat trips which we auctioned for 97 Euros for the charity.

The event was in Vivo Decades Pleasure Island, las Americas, the venue and the staff there were amazing.

A great day and all made so because everyone there went with the same purpose to help the charity and have a good time doing so.

We helped to raise a grand total of nearly 3000 euros, a great achievement and proud to have taken part.

2014 Challenge Week 16 Nature and Wildlife- Water (long exposure)

Living in Tenerife I only have the ocean, as there are no streams etc. I managed to get a few good pictures, I use  a sony cybershot I lowered the EV to -2.

This is the photo I put into the challengeDSC01618

These are the other photos I took, it was hard to decide.

Handy Tips

When I started my blog I thought I could post a weekly tip, it was easy to start with, but I am finding now I do not have the same time as I had, so decided to just post them when they arise, or when I come across a tip that I think would be of interest to others. This is my first one.

You can freeze ginger root by peeling it first, then put in freezer bag. When you need fresh ginger just take out freezer and it is easy to grate. This is convenient and saves money, before I did this I cannot count the amount of ginger root I had to throw out, because it went rotten before I had time to use it.

You can also freeze blocks of Parmesan and grate when you need, convenient and cost effective as cheese goes off quite quickly.

Sunsets in Tenerife

I just love the vivid colours in these pictures, hope you enjoy. Seems like sometimes I am obsessed with sunsets, watching out every evening to see if I can capture some more colourful photos.

At the moment the sun is setting behind La Gomera ( a smaller canarian island, which we can see from our balcony )

The enactment of “The passion of Jesus Christ”

This took place in Adeje, Tenerife yesterday. It was spectacular, the attention to detail was amazing, and the atmosphere all added to a great production. Over 300 amateur actors  performed along the streets of Adeje, there was singers and a band also.

There was a massive crowd, which made it difficult to get photos, but it was also televised live, so you did not have to miss any of the action.

Unfortunately we got the times mixed up and arrived late, so only managed to catch the end, never mind next year we will know.
